2013-2014 Curriculum

August 5, 2013 by Maureen Spell 2 Comments

I can’t believe it is already time for the Not-Back-To-School blog hop! We are still in summer mode here. Seeing so many other bloggers post their plans has made me start to think about what we will be doing for the upcoming year.

2013- 2014 curriculum plans

This is a picture of my curriculum planning progress so far. I set out a table and made a stack of books for each child. I’m working on gathering our supplies so I can see what we have and what I need to get. Then I’ll start figuring out the details. For now it looks like we’ll be doing the following:

Toddler/Preschoolers

All About Reading Pre-Level 1 –  I really like this curriculum and have had great results with this program.
Handwriting Without Tears
Lots of read-alouds and fun mini-units

Nature Studies using Nature Study Printables for Toddlers and Preschoolers as one of our resources.

Nature Study Printables for Preschoolers and Toddlers

(Why yes, it is a brand new eBook from Spell Outloud!)

First-Grader

Math: She still has some work to finish in Singapore Early-Bird math series. I’m not sure where we’ll go after that.

Writing: WriteShop Primary A; might be able to move to WriteShop Primary B mid-year.

Handwriting: Handwriting Without Tears

Science: Nancy Larson Science

Reading: She’ll finish up All About Reading Level 1 (just a few more lessons to go!) and then move on to AAR Level 2.

Bible: Leading Little Ones to God & Who is God? by Apologia

Misc.: Draw.Write.Now We will use these books for copywork, handwriting practice and drawing through the year.

I’m also hosting a LEGO Learning club for 5-7yr. olds. She loves building so I thought I’d use that interest to sneak in some learning at the same time.

6th Grade

Bible: The Picture Smart Bible

Science: Exploring Creation Chemistry/Physics from Apologia

Writing: IEW Narnia class

Math: Teaching Textbooks

History: Mystery of History vol. 2

Reading: Various books for history and writing class

Other:

LEGO Learning

8th Grade

As always, things are subject to change. 🙂

I have seen lots of people who are using the Picture Smart Bible. What do you and your kids think about it?
