It’s a New Year! I have to admit that I haven’t had enough time yet to fully think about goal-setting. December wears me out with multiple birthdays, special activities and Christmas. I need the quietness of January to be able to process things. So it surprised me that I already knew something that I wanted to implement on January 1st! I felt impressed to start a quote/scripture journal and to have my older children join me in this endeavor.
Starting a Quote Journal
Many times while reading online, I come across great quotes. I often think about sharing them with my older children (ages 15, 14, and 12) but then forget. So this year we’re going to start a new habit. I purchased nice journals and a set of Sakura pens for each child (and myself 🙂 ). At least once a week I will add a new quote or scripture on our dry erase board for my older children to copy into their journals. This is not copy work per se. They can copy the quote artistically, just write it, or use a printable to color and adhere into their book. Since the dry erase board is in the kitchen, we’ll probably end up discussing the quote over dinner so Dad can join in the conversation. I’ve been collecting quotes to share and the quote for this week is :
“Champions don’t do extraordinary things. They do ordinary things habitually that others give up on or just neglect to do. ” ~ Sandi Krakowski
This quote struck a chord with me when I read it in my Facebook stream last month. I have struggled with establishing good routines and sticking with certain things (such as exercising) this past year. Since I feel like my one word is “intentional” this quote reminds me that I need to try to intentionally develop some good habits this year.
Free Quote Printables
My 15 year old daughter is partnering with me by helping me create a set of printable quote coloring pages for teens. She’s doing all the drawings! These quote printables will fit in a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 binder. There is something relaxing about coloring– even for adults! I found the cutest mini 3-hole punch for half-size pages. I printed the page out and added it to my daily binder. We plan on offering one quote printable a month.

What an awesome idea Yvonne! I didn’t even think about that!
We just found these and are so excited, mahalo nui loa!
Last year, we started discussing quotes and writing them on sticky notes as reminders. Your pages are fun and beautiful so we ditched the sticky notes 🙂
Two of our fave quotes:
Parents can only give good advice or put their children on the right path, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands. Anne Frank
Destination Addiction–a preoccupation with the idea that happiness is in the next place, the next job, and/or with the next partner. Until you give up on the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are. Robert Holden
Thanks! Love the quotes you shared too.
Any updates coming?
Thanks to you and yours!
Sorry about that! We’re a little behind… I’ll try to get some up ASAP! 🙂
Sue, we finally added some new quotes!
Hello, My girls still love these and ask all the time if there’s any new ones! I have a 6 and 5 year old who are begging for their own set (yup even had to buy them a binder like their sissy’s). Do you have anything 1/2 page size for littler kiddos?
Thanks again for all the wonderful freebies!
Dawn
I’ll get working on them again! Hmmm, I’ll see if I can make some for younger children. That’s a great idea!
I love positive thinking quotes, and so great to instill in kids. Your daughter’s artistic creativity and ability is awesome; I just love how it pulls this together and lets kids doodle or color while pondering these thoughts – that’s such a great bonus! I also like the famous person quotes as we can talk about the person along with the quote. As I run across them I will try to remember to post them here. The ones on our wall right now (when I ran across this) are from Dr. Seuss (printed from online, in different types of bubbles letters that we colored) 1) You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. 2) You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. Thanks so much for these pages, I hope there will be more!
Thanks for the Dr. Seuss quote! That is a great one.
I love these! I plan to send some to my teenage sponsor child through Compassion International. She speaks Spanish so I wonder if you might do any in other languages?
