When I heard that Crowe’s Nest Media had a new DVD available, I knew I wanted to check it out! The newest video is called For His Own Glory: Barnyard Collection.
I thought this video would be a perfect fit for my 1yr. old son, 3yr. old daughter, and 5 yr. old daughter. My 7yr old enjoyed it too! Though I am not actively teaching my son sign-language, it couldn’t hurt to learn a few signs!
For His Own Glory: Barnyard Animals
What sets this sign language DVD apart from others is that it gives glory to God. The Crowe family intentionally weaves the concept that God made all these animals throughout the DVD.
The animals that are showcased are:
- Horse
- Cat
- Dog
- Pig
- Duck
- Cow
- Donkey
- Rooster
- Goat
- Sheep
- Chicken
- Rabbit

What we thought:
As I knew it would be, For His Own Glory DVD was well-made. {We loved their butterfly dvd.} As a mom, I appreciated that they reinforced that God made all these animals! Classic hymns played in the background of many of the scenes and children were taught how to sign God. I also loved that the DVD didn’t just focus on sign language learning. Animal vocabulary was reinforced through showcasing the animals, puppets and song. Other early learning concepts such as counting and letter recognition skills were included too. So even if you aren’t wanting to teach sign language, this DVD is perfect for anyone learning language! In fact, I went ahead and bought another DVD to give to a friend who is bringing home their adopted daughter soon. I think it would be a gentle way to introduce a new language to a young child. I know my son is picking up words already.
As for the sign-language part— I’m not an expert nor do I know anything about sign language. For an ASL sign-language newbie, I felt there was the right amount of repetition. My three young girls can already sign all the animals! They are very proud of this fact too. {Need another opinion? Check out what Tricia from Hodgepodge had to say about this Easy Sign Language DVD}
I think For His Own Glory: Barnyard Animals is a wonderful DVD to add to your learning library. There are times I need to pop a DVD into the player to keep my younger children occupied, and I’m thankful for a wholesome option that they enjoy!
Disclosure: I was given one DVD for review purposes only. All content is my own opinion. In fact, I liked it so much I bought another copy!
