One of my most-downloaded freebies has been the teaching telephone numbers to toddlers and preschoolers printable. Much has changed since I first created it, so I’ve made an updated version that uses a cell phone as the image instead of the old-fashioned telephone. 🙂
Teaching Toddlers & Preschoolers Their Phone Number
I still have several children who need to learn their phone number so this activity will come in handy again. In this updated pack, there are 2 version (7-digit and 10-digit) plus a sheet to learn how to dial 911.

There are 2 versions, 1 with the area code and one without.

How to Use This Printable
I wrote our number in pencil in each of the squares. Next I had my daughter practice dialing by touching the number pad on the sheet. Then I had her cut out the numbers (provided in the download) and glue them in the right square. We have this hanging on our “learning” board so that we can practice it. She can look her sheet and use her pretend phone to dial or practice writing it on the chalkboard. We also sing our phone number:
My Phone Number
(sung to the tune of Where Oh Where, Oh Where is Shadow)
7 7 7 7 7 7 7
Where oh where, where is shadow?
7 7 7 7 7 7 7
Where oh where, where is shadow?
7 7 7 7 7 7 7
Where oh where, where is shadow?
Is my phone number.
Where can shadow be?
Just substitute your phone number where all the 7’s are located. If you are not familiar with the song, you can hear it sung at the beginning of the video of Bear in the Big Blue House.

How do you teach your young children important phone numbers?
Really cute! I am almost certain it would work for me. I don't know my phone number!
LOL!
My son is going to ask what the cord is for! I just know it!
Oh dang, I was about to print this out and I asked my son (5 1/2 yrs old) what my phone number was and he nailed it! He also knows Daddy's! Man, this was so cute too! Haha! Oh well, proud mama here!
LOL! I know–kids have no idea what the cords are for anymore. I needed the numbers to show on the phone and I could not find a picture of a cell phone that I could use on this printable!
Way to go on already knowing his important phone numbers!
Tune is also "Ten Little Indians." (One little, two little, three little Indians [or whatever you chose. I pick different things to go with whatever we're working on.] Four little, five little, six little Indians. Seven little, eight little, nine little Indians. Ten little Indian boys [or girls.])
Yes! Where were you last night when I kept singing this song to myself trying to remember what the real tune was? Thank you!
Thank you so much! I am going to use this as part of our All About Me unit next week (homeschooling kindergarten). Thanks for the song idea!
Thank you so much for this! My 5 year old will love this! 🙂
Thank you for sharing! We just moved and all of us need the practice!
You’re welcome!
Thank you so much. You are SOOO amazing. I really appreciate you sharing you printables and learning techniques. I feel so lost as a mom sometimes and your instructions seem so fun and achievable.
Thank you for blessing me,
Tiffany
You are welcome! I’m glad to be of help! 🙂
Thank you so much for the download. I like that you have a page with an area code because my cell phone number doesn’t match our current city’ area code and we go out of town a lot. Another is that you put a picture of an iPhone which will have a more practical concept and add familiarity for them. I think it will be a great help for teaching my kids numbers.
At least for my use, I see no need for a “name” place other than to reinforce it. I think if you had a “title” spot with a placeholder for a small picture of the person/place the number is for. So, for example, the title can be filled in as mom or dad and then a picture of said person.
This is great! My Preschoolers will love learning their phone#s
