Operation Christmas Child Boxes

October 17, 2012 by Maureen Spell 1 Comment

This past week a local  group of Girl Scouts invited me to come to their Operation Christmas Child shoebox packing party.

They had decided to do boxes for girls their own age. The first thing they did was sort through the gifts and divide by type– school supplies, hygiene, toys etc.

I brought the boxes that I ordered from Samaritan’s Purse and the girls filled them. Any regular-sized shoebox will work– even the plastic shoeboxes.

Once the boxes were filled, the girls taped the labels on and placed a rubber band around the boxes. What a great reason to gather together and hang out with friends!

Thank you so much girls! Local friends, that brings our box count to 20! Let me know if you need boxes— I have a bunch left! Our goal is 100.

Jolanthe, from Homeschool Creations has created a printable Operation Christmas Child Party invitation for you to print out, and she shares more OCC Party tips.  There is still time! Boxes need to be in the week of Nov. 12-19, 2012. If you’ve shared an OCC post from this year, be sure to link up below!

I just saw this at Church on Sunday. They are asking people to contribute. The faces of these children are so happy. Think this is such an awesome cause!
