This week my older kids hid from the camera, so this is the early elementary weekly wrap-up edition. 🙂 Here are some of the highlights from our week:
My kindergartner has asked to do her writing each day! We are using WriteShop Primary book A. We’ve been working on brainstorming and creating lists. This was her first finished project. She narrated the sentence to go along with her favorite zoo animal. She was very proud of herself!
While I was working with my kindergartener, my preschooler sat with us and did a drawing of her favorite zoo animal–a turtle. She wants to learn how to read and write just like her big sister. 🙂
Lil Pumpkin loves to draw and write on everything. She has actually started drawing on paper and not just herself. She even tells me what she is drawing. This week most of her drawings were “suns”. 🙂 Between the three girls, I go through reams of paper quickly.
My kindergartener is chugging right along in All About Reading Level 1. She has been working on fluency and sounding out words. I really like how this program is working for us.
She has been having a little difficulty with her fluency sheets though. I pulled out our See-n-Read tool and that has helped her. She still doesn’t love this part of the lesson, but at least now she can stay on the right line and not loose her place.
My kindergartener is on a Cat in the Hat kick right now. I’ve read this book more times than I care to this week 😉 but I’m glad my girls are enjoying it. They have even memorized certain pages of the book already. 🙂
So those are some of our highlights from this week. How did your week go?
